Press conference in the Sky Room: Official opinion in short.

On the 15th of September, 2003, the group Tatu, its producer Ivan Shapovalov and the remaining representatives of the management conducted the press conference in the Sky Room, which is the new residence of Netformat and is soon to be Tatu’s new recording studio. In the midst of the continuous repair Ivan and the girls answered questions, sitting on the construction stepladders. The press release, which clearly presented information on the current plans for Tatu, was given to the journalists present. These plans are as follows:

The beginning of the Tatu World Tour “Show Me Love” in Japan,
the creation of a full-length cartoon with Yulia Volkova and Lena Katina in the main roles,
and also the launching of the new version of the official site.

Despite the fact that the press conference passed with a large accumulation of different caliber cameras and people, and the fact that Ivan and the girls were ready to answer any questions – the conference turned out to be boring.

Journalists were mostly interested in the story with Lena Kiper, they tried to accuse girls of having an incapacity to sing and, generally, in every possible way attempted to expose Tatu as creatively impotent.

What follows is an example of the line of questioning Ivan and the girls were subjected to:

Journalist - Ivan, don’t you fear that Lena Kiper will nevertheless win the trial?
Ivan - What do you mean “win the trial”?
Journalist - That the copyrights will be passed on to Lena.
Ivan - Ah, the trial process! The process that will pass on the rights to the songs, which are 3 years old! If it can be called a process, if she wrote new songs during this time.
Journalist - What relation do you have to Lena Kiper now?
Ivan - I love her!
Journalist - Haven’t you had an idea to get in touch with Nilolay Baskov to do a TV-show together?
Ivan - Get in touch yourself if you want to!
Journalist - How is Beata Ardeeva?
Ivan - Meet me after the press conference, I’ll give you the sanatorium address – you may visit her there and check on her health.

Hmm, as I suspected, more accusations regarding their voices! It’s frustrating, but not surprising. As for the World Tour, Show Me Love is an interesting title, isn’t it? Maybe this is why their video shoot for that song has spanned the globe?
Could it be that the video for Show Me Love will in some way advertise the tour itself and vice-versa?
It seems all the pieces of the puzzle are finally coming together!

As for Ivan, he obviously isn’t bothered (at least ostensibly) about the future of the so-called “3 year old” songs. Which worries me, because I think he should! I hope he’s just playing a game with the press, but if not, well, I think it’s dodgy!
I feel this way because, while the songs are indeed old in Russia, they are still selling, and in the rest of the world the album is still relatively fresh, so to speak. Also, I would like to think that in the future, should anything happen to my Tatu/Taty collection, I will be able to replace it.
I hope he’s joking, but if not…
